Italian badminton officials have called for a return of the European Club Championships, visualising a new multi-year format modelled on tennis' ATP tour finals and bigger prize money.

Matex Marabadminton, the Sardinian club organising the senior championships in Cagliari, has launched a campaign to revive the Euro Championships and says it is ready to bid to host the club competition from 2027 or 2028.

The club was the last European champion, winning the 2023 competition in Oviedo, Spain, where it became the first Italian club to lift the title. The championships have not been held since then.
