Bobby Griffin: From road accident, amputation to prominent badminton commentator

Bobby Griffin had no idea about para badminton before his ordeal.

For Bobby Griffin, badminton was always at the forefront. In his own words, he wasn't a great shuttler by any stretch of imagination but he loved playing the sport. A hobby player, as he puts it.

In 2008, life changed in an instant for the then 27-year-old. A horrific road accident led to multiple serious injuries, and he recalls later how a paramedic quipped he had indeed died for a few seconds because he needed to be resuscitated.

For two years after that, he barely lived. Then, he took the life-altering call to amputate his leg. It was a decision that led him to para badminton, opened up a whole new world, and has eventually put him behind the microphones at badminton's elite events.
